Manchester born artist and Majorcan resident Nikki Jones has been exhibiting in the island and taking commissions for large format paintings and murals, which has allowed her to expand her interest into interior design.
Nikki’s new collection is born out of her need to “brighten” people’s lives, which she achieves with her colourful palate, a strong influence of her “Florentine” Fine Arts schooling. “My paintings seek to highlight a luminous outlook of life”, explains Nikki of her work. “I think of them as spiritual up lifters, that allow one to see the brighter side of things”, she adds.
Born into a household full of creative souls – her mother was a fashion designer and her father an architect – Nikki likes to mix colour and textures in her work, to represent the strong force present in the Mediterranean. “I like to include all those elements into my paintings to make them dynamic and easy to the eyes, that could fit in any type of home”, she comments.
A former school teacher, Nikki has found a way to express the profound feelings that were patiently waiting to emerge through her colour-rich paintings, which has been “materialising” into colourful works of art.
“Spirit of Ecstasy” is the third exhibit of her painting career, which she hopes it will continue to be as prolific as “the light of Mallorca”. The showcase will remain open until 30 December.
